South Nags Head encompasses the area around Old Oregon Inlet Road, from Jennette’s Pier at milepost sixteen and a half to Coquina Beach at milepost twenty-one. Bounded on the west by National Park Service land, South Nags Head is almost entirely residential, offering you a quiet respite from the everyday on the Outer Banks. Oregon Inlet Road has very little through traffic, and there are many beach accesses for your convenience, including some with parking and bath facilities, and some just a simple sand path.

South Nags Head centers on the Outer Banks Fishing Pier at about milepost eighteen and a half. In addition to pier fishing, guests who book one of our places to stay in South Nags Head will find a small convenience store and nearby boat rentals. Be sure to check out the Fish Heads restaurant for a true Outer Banks oceanfront experience. We recommend the conch fritters!
