Meet the Village Realty Staff, December 2022

Meet the Village Realty Staff, December 2022

Although it is the end of the year, and summer is far into the future, our staff is already preparing for your next Outer Banks vacation. We connected with staff members for the second installment of this blog series. We hope 2022 was an excellent year for you and look forward to welcoming you back to the Outer Banks in 2023. Michelle has lived on the Outer Banks since the age of 5. It is truly her Home Sweet home! She has worked for Village Realty since the end of December 2021. Starting as a stager, she moved up to Housekeeping Inspector Coordinator. She is also a wedding DJ and website designer. She leads a volunteer Culinary Outreach program at Source Church in Manteo, providing free home-cooked meals for anyone in need. Michelle enjoys fishing, visiting various parks on the Outer Banks, spending time with her family, and the fantastic OBX sunsets. What do you like most about working at Village Realty? I like that Village Realty is a growing company that cares for the work its employees provide and their well-being, in and out of the office. What three words would you use to describe the Outer Banks? Home, Beautiful, Natural What do you enjoy most about your job? Working with seasonal staff, meeting new people and owners. Which beach access is your favorite? Coquina Beach public access Where is your favorite place to go for an after-beach snack? South Beach Grill What is a must-have in your beach bag? Sunblock Patty has been in the Vacation Rentals industry since 2000 and has been a licensed broker since 2004. She started working with Village realty in June of 2022. Initially, she worked with our association management department but recently transferred to our owner relations team. What do you like most about working at Village Realty? I enjoy working with my coworkers and homeowners. What three words would you use to describe the Outer Banks? Relaxing, Inviting, Home What do you enjoy most about your job? Working with the owners Which beach access is your favorite? Oregon Inlet Where is your favorite place to go for an after-beach snack? Bonzer Shack What is a must-have in your beach bag? Sunscreen Joseph has worked with Village Realty for about four years now. He started as a young lad at 19 in our Nags Head Housekeeping office, washing linen bags and taking care of lost and found and dry cleaning. He then moved to our housekeeping department in Corolla to help run the day-to-day operations. He now works on our guest relations team, handling guest experience, problem-solving, and saving the day!  What do you like most about working at Village Realty? My favorite thing about working with Village Realty is the team. No question about it.  What three words would you use to describe the Outer Banks? Home, Peaceful, Busy Which beach access is your favorite? Pear Pad sound access in Manteo with friends and a good speaker. But more than likely, you will find me at a pool rather than at a beach! Where is your favorite place to go for an after-beach snack? Waveriders Audrey is the staff accountant at Village Realty. She started in the department in 2019. She enjoys traveling, spending time with her family, and lettering. Two fun facts about her are that she was a volunteer firefighter with Kitty Hawk Fire Department and is a certified K-12 Spanish teacher. What do you like most about working at Village Realty? My favorite aspect of working at Village Realty is the close-knit "family" feel between myself and the other Village Realty employees. What three words would you use to describe the Outer Banks? To me, Outer Banks is a resilient, welcoming, and diverse community.  What do you enjoy most about your job? The thing I enjoy most about my job is the flexibility that I am afforded so that I can make sure my family and myself are safe and my work is getting done. Which beach access is your favorite? The Kitty Hawk Road beach access is very close to my house, so that's definitely my most-visited. Where is your favorite place to go for an after-beach snack? Thai Room or Bad Bean Baja Grill are my favorite places for an after-beach snack! What is a must-have in your beach bag? When I go to the beach, I have to have a good book, water, and watermelon. If I don't have the trifecta, the beach trip isn't happening! Bob is a native of Pennsylvania and has vacationed in the Outer Banks since he was born. After falling deeply in love with the area (like all of us do), he followed his dreams, moved to Kitty Hawk in 2012, and joined Village Realty in 2016. Now working remotely from his home state once again, Bob conducts the team serving as the Director of Marketing. What do you like most about working at Village Realty? Honestly, I love the people. The culture that Bob Oakes built this company with is strong and attracts people who care. That makes "working" so much nicer when you're with a group of individuals who develop great relationships with you and want to contribute as a team. The fact we are in the business of family vacations is also a plus! What three words would you use to describe the Outer Banks? Wild, Exciting, and Home.  I love the history of the Outer Banks and all the natural attractions. Being a barrier island chain also makes for some pretty exciting weather. Lastly, it always feels like home getting back onto the beach. What do you enjoy most about your job? I love working with my team to creatively approach challenges. Brainstorming a great piece of advertising is always a pleasure, and strategically guiding our business to greater things is truly a passion of mine. Which beach access is your favorite? E Albatross Street. It is easy to miss and not a lot of parking spaces which makes it a lot less crowded. It also has a pleasant boardwalk up over the dunes for ease of getting to the beach or just a quick snapshot. Where is your favorite place to go for an after-beach snack? Surfin' Spoon for some froyo with copious amounts of berries and Nutella OR Mama Kwans for fish tacos and a cold beer. What is a must-have in your beach bag? Sunscreen. Take it seriously! Myers is an Outer Banks native and has called Nags head his home for most of his life. He started working for Village Realty's Pool and Spa department in the summers of 2004 and 2005 while attending NC State University. After working for a few years in the banking industry, Myers joined the Village Realty Rental Department full-time. In addition to the Rental Department, he has been part of our Guest Service and Association Management teams. In his current position, Myers is an Owners Relations Manager. He still resides in Nags Head with his wife, two daughters, an old big dog, and a horrible cat. In his free time, he likes to take advantage of everything the Outer Banks has to offer. What do you like most about working at Village Realty? The relationships that you form. Whether co-workers, homeowners, guests, or vendors, you develop relationships with these people, and many of them grow into friendships and professional tools that you have to help you in life. What three words would you use to describe the Outer Banks? Unique, Beautiful, and Spontaneous What do you enjoy most about your job? My job is about the homeowner, so forming relations with them is unique. They become part of your life, and you learn personal details about each other's lives. I just had a second child, and many homeowners reached out to congratulate me, and I found that really special. Which beach access is your favorite? This is a very personal question, so I will give you a few. Bladen St. in Nags Head, but it fills up real quick. Ramp 25 (and 70 in Ocracoke) so you can drive and have the best set up, and Enterprise St. in Nags Head Where is your favorite place to go for an after-beach snack? Lucky 12 is a great place to grab a cold drink and a bite to eat after a nice hot day at the beach. Some of my other favorites are upstairs at Miller's Waterfront (you can take your boat), Mama KwansBonzer Shack, and Fish HeadsWhat is a must-have in your beach bag? It is a combo, among a few things, but it is divided between being responsible and having fun. You MUST have sunscreen and something to keep you entertained, like a mask, snorkel, and fins.
