Kitty Hawk Pier

Kitty Hawk Pier

Address: 5353 N Virginia Dare Trail, Kitty Hawk, North Carolina, 27949 United States

Coming to the Outer Bank over the Wright Memorial Bridge, your first glimpse of the beach used to be straight ahead by the Kitty Hawk Pier. Built in 1953, the pier was famous for it’s wonderful restaurant, serving down home local food, and of course the fishing!

When Hurricane Isabel came through the Outer Banks in 2003, she all but demolished the Kitty Hawk Pier and badly damaged the pier house. The nearby Hilton Garden Inn bought the pier in 2006, and beautifully restored the 2,200 sq. ft. pier house and what remained of the pier.

The pier itself is now open to the public for fishing. Since fishing piers in the Outer Banks (like the Kitty Hawk Pier) carry their own blanket fishing license, anglers won’t need an individual fishing license to fish off the pier. For more information or questions, you can always check with the North Carolina Division of Marine Fisheries.

The pier house is available through the Hilton Garden Inn for weddings, parties and corporate events and can make for a beautiful venue for up to 175 guests. If you are using the pier house for your event but like the idea of staying in more spacious accommodations with the comforts of home, Village Realty has a large selection of vacation rentals within a few miles of the pier. Use our rental map to easily find the closest properties that sit your needs.

There is no website for the pier, so just find your way to the Hilton (Google Maps) and park on the north side of the building. Rumor has it daily passes are $5, and the office is open from 8am to 8pm.
