WH416: The Whaler

We had a lovely stay at The Whaler. Nice house, clean, close to the beach, nice pool. The house was exactly what we needed and I have no complaints. However, and this is not a complaint, just a warning to other parents with small children, this isnt the best house for toddlers or small children. They did have outlet covers, which I appreciate, but there is no way to safely put a baby gate at the top of the stairs. I called before hand and asked so I was aware of this but I thought I could just push a coffee table or arm chair in front to block, but the furniture is light and my Herculean baby threw it to the side like it was a pillow. Also, my tiny terror is a water lover and a strong willed sneaky baby so I brought door knob protectors to contain him, BUT, the front door is a pull down handle so they didnt work. I also brought a door stick to wedge in the front door in case it was the pull down handle but with the locking system it cant be used or the door cant lock and beeps at you. Some of this might not matter to other parents, it just depends on your baby, and mine happens to be super strong, and crazy determined to get to the water, so playing chase the baby took away some of the fun from the vacation. This again isnt a poor reflection on the house just a warning to other parents with crazy babies like mine!

This is our 8th year staying at The Whaler. My family and I consider this our happy place! We have enjoyed each moment of every year with very little complaints till last year and this one. For the past two years, the grill was absolutely disgusting! Both years, my husband has had to scrub the grate in order for it to even be usable. This year was same but on top of it the grease trap was so full that after cleaning the grate and turning on grill it burst into a flame! My husband used the hose to put the flame out and had to clean grease trap. But what was beyond understandable and unacceptable was that a housekeeping employee entered our rental at 6 am while we were sleeping. Walked into the bathroom and was in a bedroom when I came out and saw her. My children were still sleeping. Bags were packed by the door as we were leaving later that morning but yet she still was walking through the property. I have to admit that we are not sure we will be returning next year.

Awesome week of vacation! The house was clean and had everything we needed. Nice ocean view and breeze. The pool was huge, warm and clean. Super quick walk to the beach, stores and dining in the perfect weather we had. Enjoyed laying in the hammock on the balcony listening to the ocean in the morning and evening. Relaxing location and week with the family. Definitely will book this house again for our small group trip. Thanks to the owners for the bagels, quick breakfast to get out and enjoy the sun! Thanks to the Village Realty staff for responding quickly to WiFi and cable issue. Would suggest ceiling fans in the bedrooms. Looking forward to coming back soon!
