SN07: Summer Rental (Formerly Aloha Mist)

This was our first time renting Aloha Mist. We have rented six other homes in Nags Head over the past six years. We agree with everything included in the review left by one of the previous renters back in September 2018. One update is the brand new picnic table just outside of the fenced pool area. There is still only 1 large fridge (and 1 small fridge on the first floor near the pool table. No sink disposal was annoying, but not a big deal. Pots and pans selections was ok. There are two large pots.Additional Pros:- We liked the corn hole and horse shoes near the picnic table, but they were only used a couple times.- The house is in South Nags Head, which has less vehicle traffic, which if you have stayed in Nags Head or Kitty Hawk, you will definitely appreciate. - The beach is also more quiet in South Nags Head.- Master bedroom and bathroom are very large.- There is a computer on the third floor nook that several people used and appreciated. Most rentals don't have a computer, so this was unexpected and really nice.Additional Cons:- Pool table is in a room that is slightly too small to get decent shots on the ends. You have to use a short stick.- The pool is a little smaller than other rental homes in the OBX.- The bathroom fan is not working in the main bathroom on the first floor - this bathroom is the one used by everyone who comes in from the pool and by anyone playing pool or coming in the front door. There is one other bathroom on the first floor but it is a Jack and Jill bathroom shared by and accessible from the two bedrooms.

This is our 4th year renting from Village Realty and Aloha Mist fell short of expectations. The house needs serious updates and TLC.

Pros:

- Location is great - across from beach access, walking distance to Jennette's Pier, 5 mins to the grocery store

- Spacious rooms

Cons:

- Only one full-sized fridge - ahouse this large should have two or at least a freestanding ice maker. Our large group could only refrigerate a day or two's worth of food and constantly ran out of ice

- No sink disposal

- Not enough large pots and pans

- Pool furniture needs to be replaced, especially picnic table that looks like it'll collapse any day now

We'll continue to rent from Village Realty - just not this house

We had a wonderful family Thanksgiving at Aloha Mist! Loved the separation the three floors offered. Great location. Good bedroom space and large kitchen area. Could have used 2 full size refrigerators and 2 ovens especially at Thanksgiving.

The house overall was decent. It needs updates to furniture, especially outside, and the Wifi system (if you're in the basement don't even bother, it doesn't work). The cleaning staff didn't do that great of a job. They failed to open and check the cabinets in the kitchen which in one was a peanut butter and jelly sandwich just sitting there. The only compliment I can give to the cleaning staff is it makes me seriously consider one day opening my own cleaning company and proving what real cleaning is supposed to look like. The location of the house is great. I'm giving 3 stars due to lack of cleanliness, lack of proper kitchen equipment, and how desperate furniture and Wifi needs to be updated.

My family and I loved the house. It was very close to the beach access, was neatly decorated and clean, but the beds were TERRIBLE! Everyone in our party (17 people) all complained about how bad their beds were. We actually fought over who got one of the couches. One of the beds broke on the first day just by someone sitting on it, had to have already been damaged. We would love to stay at that house again as long as the beds were replaced.
