POND5: A Speckled Trout

We have been renting homes in OBX for the past 17 years. This was the first house we all loved so much we would rent it a second time. The location is awesome, water on all sides. Waking up each morning to go paddle boarding or see the sun rise was awesome. The house layout is great, easy to unpack and pack bc it is all on one level. We had 7 teenagers with us (our three kids and some of their friends - all great kids). Each morning we ate at the new health conscious restaurant just down the street Fresh Fit Caf- it is amazing, all the kids loved it too. Beach was easy to get to, and at night there was plenty to do bc of the bay and the nice backyard. We paddle boarded and kayaked and the kids played Spike Ball and other games in the back yard while we cooked dinner in the great kitchen. Loved the new oversized table - it fit all of us! We took good care of it and made sure no water marks were left bc it was new. We called in a work order for one of the bathrooms bc the sink and shower were backing up, but they came and fixed it the very next day and my husband stayed and made sure everything was fixed. We played Poker at the poker table in the game room several nights and made the best memories with the kids. The game room is tons of fun, even my husband and I (in our late 40s!) played PacMan and Frogger and laughed and laughed. By the end of the week, we all agreed we wanted to rent this house next year, however one thing changed our minds. The neighbors (who appear to be locals) allowed their two small dog to run free onto our property all the time and I picked up their poop every single day. The first night we arrived we found their dogs on our dock and returned them thinking they had gotten out by mistake, and the neighbors seemed very irritated that we did so, and told us their dogs liked to go "Adventuring". I could tell we were off to a bad start with them. We have a German Shepard Dog (well trained) and were worried about their small digs running loose onto our property late at night when we were out with him as well. Several times during the week we caught the old lady next door taking pictures of us and the kids from their kitchen window while we were outside. Sadly, we would not rent this house again bc of the neighbors, but would have rented it for the next several years since we all really loved the house and the location and took great care of it. As one other review stated, there are TONS of spiders everywhere outside and it could use a pressure washing and treatment outside, but that would not have deterred us from renting it again. This was our favorite house we have rented in OBX in 17 years, unfortunately with the exception of the neighbors. Thank you Speckled Trout for an amazing family vacation!

Great Location and the game room was a great addition. But, there was a problem with the bed in the Master B/R and also spider webs and spiders everywhere (outside).

We had a great time! Very well equipped and the Village Realty staff was very responsive. Great floor-plan and being surrounded by water was fantastic. We saw fireworks in every direction. Everyone from age 5 to 78 found things to do and all had a great time. Hot tub was a big hit with the little ones. Being close to Jennnette's pier was also a plus.

The game room in this house was for sure a favorite with my kids! We enjoyed playing games with them every evening. The big buck game was a super big hit. Loved the deck access to the bay. We enjoyed Kayaking and fishing right off the deck. Love that it was dog friendly and that our pups could enjoy it with us. Highly recommend this house!

We had a lovely time here! House is pretty and has a lovely view of both sunrise and sunset! Quiet, peaceful, exactly what we all needed! Thank you!

A Speckled Trout is one of our favorite homes to visit. I brought my mom here, it was her first time at the beach. she loved watching the people on jet skies and seeing the fish and crabs we caught right off the dock...I would recommend this home for anyone.

We loved this rental and location is amazing. Satisfied our needs and the extra amenities kept the kids happy as well. Thanks for sharing your home with us this week.

Great place to stay. Loved the access and view to the sound. The poolroom upstairs was a hit with our teenagers. Also, so happy to be able to bring our dog.
