Having a wheelchair-bound man as a part of our travel party, we were limited with options when choosing a vacation home - Happy Haven exceeded my expectations! The handicap accommodations were perfect (with the exception of getting into the pool area - the gate was not wide enough for a wheelchair which was disappointing) and an information book helped us find a beach with a ramp. We had a large party of several families and everyone had plenty of room. The house was so large that we sometimes would get lost on the second floor trying to find certain rooms! Having a living space on each floor was perfect. We also loved that each bedroom had an attached bath. The kitchen was roomy for several people to cook and having two sinks and dishwashers was very helpful. The realty company was also super responsive and helped us quickly get a propane refill so we could continue grilling dinners! We all had an amazing time and would definitely return in the future!

Happy Haven was the PERFECT house for our family vacation! 13 adults, 4 children and 1 dog and all fit comfortably for our week long stay. The kitchen was fantastic for family meals, everyone had their own bathrooms, the pool was delightful and perfect walking distance to the beach! Plenty of space to gather together and also get some space apart when needed. Great bonuses: grill, hot tub, game room downstairs and laundry. Loved it!

We had the best stay at Happy Haven for our girls weekend. This house is really well appointed- it had everything we needed for our stay. The elevator was great to have to bring all our goodies up to the main floor.Sitting out on the spacious front porch in the morning with our coffee was perfect!Getting to the beach is just a short walk away.Looking forward to going back!!!

We had a great time on our girls weekend at the Happy Haven. We loved sitting on the front porch in the morning sipping on coffee and soaking up the sunshine. The kitchen is large and has all the gadgets you would ever need to cook large meals in the house. The kitchen table is enormous and will accommodate a crowd. The beds are very comfortable as well as the couches and other various sitting areas through out the house.I cant say enough good things about this house. It was a perfect place to gather with people you care about!

My family vacation staying at “Happy Haven” was nothing short of amazing. You go into these rental houses not knowing if pictures are accurate and I worried about this, but let me just say this is the first time the house appeared better than the pictures. The bottom level was an entertainment dream. You could go outside to a fantastic pool, hot tub, and eating area or you could hang inside and use the pool table and watch movies or play games. It even had a full fridge and sink area so you didn’t have to run up and down for food. The thing that amazed me was each level had a thought out gathering space either equipped with TVs, game closets, or other spaces for relaxing. Two of the favorite spaces to relax other than the bottom pool level, were a cozy nook on the upper level with chairs by a window, and the porch swing on the mid level. I think another great feature of the house is the number of decks on each level so you could sit out on your own if you wanted. We had a group of 17, so the space was big enough to both gather and spend time together for meals and games, but also big enough to getaway and have some private time. We had very young children and older people in our group and the house worked for all of us. The elevator in the house was such an great feature for us because my elderly parents could move about the house with ease, not to mention how great it was for unloading and loading the cars. I think the thing I liked about the house the most was that it literally had every feature and thing I thought I needed. It had two ovens, two dishwashers, full kitchen with all electrics, and even had a crock pot which I used to make pulled pork for everyone. I think they pretty much thought of everything...pool, hot tub, pool table, tv systems with access to Netflix, Amazon Prime etc... were all there for our use. The last thing I’ll say is that we loved our time at the beach there as well. It was a short 10 minute walk to the private beach from the house. I loved the fact that people couldn’t come in from other areas and park at our beach. It made the beach experience so much less crowded and enjoyable. My only regret is that we didn’t reserve it for two weeks as I think we would have loved to stay longer. I definitely recommend this home and the Corolla area. Our vacation here was just perfect.

We had a great time on a large family trip at Happy Haven. The home is a short walk to a beautiful private beach, and the beaches are not over crowded at all. The amenities in the home are great, with enough room for up to 20 people to be in the house comfortably. The decks on the outside of the house are great in the evening when the sun has gone down, and we loved the having pool and hot tub right at the house. The home is still a convenient drive to grocery stores and the local attractions on the sound, and there are bike paths and tennis courts very nearby. We would certainly stay at Happy Haven again.

We loved our stay at the Happy Haven. We took our two teenage boys who each had a friend plus my sister-in-law and her daughter met us there too. We had eight people and we didn't even use all of the bedrooms! It was my first time in the Outer Banks and I wasn't sure if we should get something right on the beach, we debated on it, but it was much more expensive. Well, I am glad we didn't because we didn't know that even if you are right on the beach, you just face huge three story sand dunes and can't see anything anyway. So, by being a block or so (it took only a 5 minute walk) from the beach we saved a ton of money and didn't miss any views. The short walk to the beach was nice but it was also convenient to just relax by the pool on some days. We spent many a day laying around the pool and then bouncing between the hot tub and the pool. The pool area was much larger than the pictures, plenty of chaise lounges and I also loved being able to grill out hot dogs and sit by the pool at the picnic tables. I was warned by some friends that only having the one road in the Outer Banks it often can take forever to get to groceries and restaurants. Well we couldn't have picked a better location. Turning left out of the subdivision it was just a mile or so to Harris Teeters and some other stores/restaurants or turning right was about a mile or so to Food Lion and stores/restaurants (and mini golf which our boys enjoyed a few times). We went out to a few restaurants but we mostly took advantage of the gas grill and huge kitchen and cooked and ate together as a family. My wife and I enjoyed getting up early, making a pot of coffee and sitting on the 3rd floor deck in the rocking chairs. The owners seemed to have taken the time to really think through everything. There were plenty of dishes, glasses, utensils, pots and pans, etc. and the TWO sinks and dishwashers made cleanup a breeze. Everything was labeled on how to use so we enjoyed watching a few netflix shows (we were able to login on our own account with the smart tv) with great surround sound. Oh yeah, I almost forgot, our four legged family member got to come with us and enjoy the house and beach too because this house was also pet friendly - so our labradoodle was able to visit the beach for the first time. In the past we have spent year after year in Hilton Head Island, but after this experience we will definitely be booking another week in the Outer Banks at the Happy Haven.
Thank you so much for sharing your feedback with us, Mark! We are so glad to hear that you and your family enjoyed your stay with us at the lovely Happy Haven and hope to welcome you back to the beach soon!

Ailene & Ella Jean (80 yr. old twins) & their families stayed in this lovely home. We had a great time. Saw horses on the beach, fished, shopped, visited Manteo attractions. We enjoyed the turtles in the pond. Had a real bad storm & found a lobster in the pool the next morning. Loved the elevator. Pool & hot tub were nice! Wish we had more time!!!

Very much enjoyed our stay at Happy Haven. Had 6 days of sunshine! Very much appreciated the home which was well designed (although it took a couple days for some family members to remember what floor their rooms were on). Family members range in age from 4 mos. Old to 69 yrs. old. Parents, grandparents and children very happy to all be accommodated under one roof and still have lots of room for time with small groups. Pool, access to beach, parking, and neighborhood all accessible and close. Our two dogs were very happy also. We hail from PA, Maryland, New York, Virginia and Ohio. First time we were all able to stay in one house and also have room to spread out in our beautiful vacation destination. Twelve-year old was delighted with seeing rays in the water each day. Several members of family expressed that the only improvement needed was that we could not have a longer stay here. Being able to spend so much time together rather than wasting time to travel to meet meant a lot to us. A member of our family has CP and is in a wheelchair and the elevator and spacious accessible bathroom – Thank you.

We visited OBX and this house for the first time and both were amazing! This was the first time we were able to enjoy a family vacation with our wheelchair bound brother-in-law. The size and accommodations that this house provided mad this a very memorable experience that set the standard for how we want our vacations to be in the future. It was nice for everyone to have their own space to relax while at the same time have an area to gather for meals, games and family discussions. Also, it was nice to take a brake from our busy lives to enjoy everything the area has to offer and to sample a taste of the “Salty Life”.

What an amazing home and wonderful experience our families had on this annual trip to the OBX. We have stayed in many different rentals, but this one was absolutely the best. Thank you for taking the time to insure its upkeep & that every accommodation was thought of!
