Village Realty understands the value of a long term relationship

(Back to Property Management)

These are the rental managers who will be working with you when you join the Village Realty rental program. Between them they have 60 years of vacation rental experience, just with Village Realty!

Maggie Sexton

Maggie’s family has lived on the Outer Banks for generations. She was raised and currently lives in Manteo with her husband and 2 daughters. Maggie started working for Village Realty in 1998 as a Vacation Specialist and was promoted to Rental Manager in 2003. In 2016 she was named Director of Rental Management.

Maggie’s dedication, passion and competitiveness to be the best have helped Village Realty become an industry leader in the ever-changing and competitive vacation rental market-  not only on the Outer Banks, but nationwide. She is committed to having Village Realty provide the best possible vacation rental experience for its guests and also validate our property owners’ decision to entrust their rental property with Village Realty.

“Building relationships is what we do best. I can honestly say I have made some true friends with guests and homeowners over the years. I’m here because I really do enjoy my work and it’s a pleasure to have worked with so many wonderful guests and owners for almost 20 years!”

Candy Basnight

Candy is a native Outer Banker. She grew up in and still resides on Roanoke Island.

Candy started with Village Realty in 2001 as a part-time receptionist in our Nags Head office. Her enthusiasm and infectious personality soon led to other responsibilities within the company. In 2008 she transferred to the rental department as a Reservations Specialist. In 2010 she earned her real estate license and was promoted to Reservations Supervisor. Candy currently serves as one of our two Rental Managers in the Corolla office. Candy’s energy and spirit inspire all others around her to go the extra mile to serve both our guests and property owners.

Kara Beatty

Kara has lived on the Outer Banks since she was a small child and always knew it would remain her home. After studying Hospitality Management at UNC Greensboro she came back home to the beach and joined the Village Realty team in 2005 as a Vacation Specialist in our Corolla office. She proved herself an asset by winning her first service award in 2006.

Self-driven and motivated, Kara worked to obtain her real estate license in 2007, after which she earned the promotion to Rental Manager in our Nags Head office. Kara proved herself once again, being named Employee of the Year during her first year holding the seat of Rental Manager.

Kara has a passion and talent for interior design and knows what the market is looking for in a vacation rental home.  Kara has helped countless owners update their homes and in return, these owners have received higher rental income levels year after year. “Transforming homes from ‘ok’ to ‘wow’ is so enjoyable for me. Being able to see the financial benefit to the owner and having their ROI reaped year after year is just icing on the cake (a Joanna Gains cupcake in fact…!)”

Laura Payne

Laura is originally from Alexandria, VA but spent her family vacations visiting the Outer Banks. Like many current residents, Laura decided to move here permanently upon graduating from Ferrum College. Laura’s first experience in the hospitality industry was waitressing, then Banquet Manager at the prestigious Sanderling Inn.

Laura joined Village Realty in 2009 as a Reservation Specialist and earned her real estate license in 2010. She was promoted to the Rental Management Team in our Nags Head office in 2015.

Laura currently lives in Kill Devil Hills along with her husband and two children. They love spending time together and enjoy all the Outer Banks has to offer.

Sara Kristof

Sara is originally from Richmond, VA and a graduate of the University of Virginia. Her family has strong ties to the Outer Banks as her parents built their vacation home in Corolla Light in 1988 which they still own. Her brother currently owns Metropolis, a martini and tapas bar in Corolla.

Sara moved to the Outer Banks in 2000 after a brief career for a non-profit organization in Washington, DC. She first started working as a Sales Assistant for the developer of The Currituck Club. She later earned her real estate license and sold property from 2003-2006. In 2007 she migrated to the rental side of the business and became a property manager in the Corolla/Duck market. Sara joined the Village Realty team in 2014 as co-manager of our Corolla/Duck office. Sara’s extensive history and knowledge of the Corolla area and 17 years working experience in The Currituck Club are a great asset to our Village Realty team.

Sara enjoys paddle boarding, biking, yoga and the beach-which she makes a point to see every day!
