Outer Banks Holiday Gift Guide

Outer Banks Holiday Gift Guide

It’s that time of year again! If shopping for the holidays is on your agenda, let me give you some inspiration for a few Outer Banks fans that may be on your list. These are just a couple of recommendations, there are also plenty of Village Realty VIP partners that offer a wide variety of OBX products and services that may strike your fancy. Below you’ll find my picks for her, for him, and some gifts for just about anyone!

For the Merman

The Coolest Cooler – Amazon.com

Check. This. Out! Treat your special guy to the beach cooler of his dreams!

The “Coolest Cooler” features a built-in blender, Bluetooth speaker, usb charger, led lit lid, and build in bottle opener.  It’ll also hold ice for up to 5 days if you never wish to leave the beach.

The cooler is a few years old to the market now, so the price is very attractive.  Normal retail is $449, found it on sale at Amazon.com for $175 + free shipping. Booyah!

For the Surfer

Legends of the Sandbar – Chris Bickford

Although ranked as some of the best surfing in North America, there has never been a single book dedicated to surfing the Outer Banks. A new project by local photographer Chris Bickford, Legends of the Sandbar delivers this in a beautifully engaging photo book… capturing the essence of surf culture on the Outer Banks.

The stunning photography, anecdotes, and biographies of local “legends” will make this a cherished gift for years to come. Add this to the list for any surfer or Outer Banks culture enthusiast and you’ll be the winning gifter this year! Sign up for updates, and then pre-order online for $25 at LegendsoftheSandbar.com.

For the Sailor

Outer Banks Drawn Map – GeographicsArt Etsy

Here is a beautiful hand drawn print of the Outer Banks and surrounding areas that’s perfect for a nautical enthusiast or history lover. Each of these limited edition prints are individually stained, crumpled, edges torn, ironed flat, and then signed and numbered. Choose 11″x15″ for $32 or a larger 17″x23″ for $57 on GeographicsArt’s Etsy shop.

If you’re looking to spend a little more and go over the top, this carved wood chart of the Outer Banks was my runner-up pick for $298.

For the Cook

Have you ever wanted to take home the secrets of some of the best restaurants on the Outer Banks? Now you can! with “Food as Art on the Outer Banks.”

This 6″x9″ soft cover book features 30 recipes and each is beautifully illustrated with photographs from OBX Life Photography. Recipes include the famous Saint Martin Shrimp from Tortuga’s Lie and Outer Banks Brewing Station’s Tuna Tacos. For our vegetarian friends, half the recipes are meatless so you can enjoy incredible desserts like Chocolate Peanut Butter Cream Pie from The Saltbox Cafe or scrumptious soups like Roasted Red Pepper Bisque from Trio. There’s something for everyone.

For the Pirate

Outer Banks Distilling
Outer Banks Candle Assortment – Outer Banks Candle Co. (VIP Offer)

When many think of the Outer Banks, swashbuckling pirates and shipwrecks undoubtedly come to mind. Fuel your intrigue for legendary tales with the soon-to-be legendary rum produced at Outer Banks Distilling!

“Kill Devil Rum” is the pioneer product line at this distillery located in historic Manteo, NC., appropriately named after the legendary barrels of shipwreck-salvaged rum so strong it could kill the devil! A silver rum was first introduced last year and quickly followed by a version flavored with local pecans and honey. While you won’t be getting your hands on any of the small-batch spiced rum just yet, you can, fortunately, order both the silver rum and honey pecan rum online. Prices vary. You must be 21+ to order here at Schneider’s of Capitol Hill.

For the New Home

Outer Banks Candle Assortment – Outer Banks Candle Co. (VIP Offer)
Nothing takes you straight back to vacation memories quite like the smell of the beach! Share that special gift with someone this year with a gift basket from The Outer Banks Candle Company! A new Village VIP partner, The Outer Banks Candle Company is locally owned and operated in Kitty Hawk, NC, and uses only the finest fragrances and waxes to create the highest quality candles around.

Numerous year-round scents are available plus many seasonal delights such as “Peppermint Bark”, “Vanilla Vacation”, “Gingerbread Man”, “Mulled Cider”, “Orange Pomander”, and quite possibly my favorite, “Beach Pine.” Single candles are available on their online store as well as gift baskets and combinations. I’m recommending the large Christmas basket (shown above) for a wonderful mix of holiday scents! Price is $49.95 + tax and s/h.
