Plan a Spectacular Mother's Day Outer Banks Getaway
Does your Mom refer to the Outer Banks as her "happy place"? Has your wife ever discussed visiting the Outer Banks in the "off-season"? Do you want to show the Mother in your life how much you love and cherish her? If you can answer yes to any of these questions, this is the year to plan a spectacular Mother's Day Outer Banks Getaway. Let this year's trip be a Mother's Day she will remember for the rest of her life.
Plan Ahead
To really wow Mom during this trip, take some time and plan. Moms are significant caregivers and decision-makers. Let this Outer Banks trip be one where everything is taken care of for her. Start by finding the perfect vacation rental. The pools will be open, so we recommend finding a home with plenty of space for Mom to lounge poolside. Can't stay an entire week? Check out our Stay Your Way homes. Those homes offer short stays and flexible arrival and departure options.

Make it easier for you and Mom by not having to bring your beach gear with you! Ocean Atlantic Rentals has great beach gear you can pre-reserve and even have it delivered to your rental. The best part? They provide an exclusive discount to our guests.
If your Mom is an avid angler, surprise her with fishing gear during her trip. Take her to Jennette's Pier; they offer a rod and reel combo for just $12 a day. The pier has a blanket license to cover all fishing from the pier, so there's no need to buy a separate license. Are you staying up north? Visit Corolla Bait & Tackle. They offer quality 8-foot rod and reel combos fully strung with line and a sand spike for just $20. Both locations are happy to help share any fishing insight as well.
Get Pampered
No Mother's Day is complete without a bit of self-care. We recommend booking Mom a spa treatment at Aqua Spa in Duck. They have everything from a Swedish massage to aromatherapy to facials to manicures and pedicures. Doesn't enjoying a pedicure while overlooking the water sound like a fun yet relaxing time?

Help Mom nurture her mind, body, and spirit with some beach yoga! Village Yoga in Duck offers private yoga on the beach classes, SUP yoga, and many in-studio classes. Be sure to visit their website to preview their schedule for class times.
The Outer Banks Salt Cave is a unique experience that Mom may enjoy. Reserve a cave session, step into the salt, and relax! The Salt Cave uses halotherapy, creating the perfect environment for Mom to enjoy some much-needed quiet and solitude. Be sure to visit their website to learn more about the health benefits of halotherapy.
Enjoy a Meal With A View
Take Mom out for a memorable Outer Banks dining experience. There are many places to enjoy delicious food with a great view. Enjoy waterfront dining at Basnight's Lone Cedar Cafe. The seafood is so fresh that the name of the boat and the captain are listed on the daily specials. We're not exaggerating when we say everything on the menu is good. This restaurant has been in the Basnight family for generations. Their authentic Outer Banks recipes create a wonderful dining experience.

NC Coast Grill & Bar, located on the soundfront in Duck, is another great restaurant to enjoy a great meal with Mom. You can feel the energy of the talented staff as you watch them prepare your meals from the open kitchen. The vibe is modern yet eclectic with a nautical flair. Check in to their chef boards, which are gorgeous edible works of art. A delicious appetizer to try is the "GO-GHO" Cauliflower. This coconut milk marinated cauliflower is quick-fried and tossed in house-Gochujang Korean sweet chili sauce. It's delicious!
While Mother's Day isn't quite "in-season," there will be plenty of open restaurants. Check out the Outer Banks Restaurant Guide for more information on our local restaurants. We encourage you to try somewhere new for this memorable Mother's Day trip.
