Best Burger Joints on The Outer Banks
Even in a place where you can eat the best seafood in the world, there are times when you just want a good cheeseburger. We took a very unscientific poll among our Facebook Followers and asked them what their favorite Burger place on the Outer Banks was. Art's Place in Kitty Hawk was mentioned by Debbie G, Nancy T, and several others. "Big, thick, and juicy patties. You might call Art's a hole in the wall, but there is great service and great food. It is definitely popular with the locals. Art's is located on Beach Road in Kitty Hawk. Tell them the Village Realty People sent you.
Mulligan's Grille in Historic Cottage Row
Mulligan's is a top favorite and many locals do eat here about once a month, for lunch. They have great hamburgers, some of our favorites are the Mulligan's Burger (topped with lump crabmeat and bacon) and the Islander Burger (topped with bacon, Pepper Jack cheese, and Thousand Island dressing). Good and friendly service and some good lunch specials every day. Hand-cut fries...delicious! Located near Milepost 13 in Nags Head, this Outer Banks restaurant features live music nightly on the deck overlooking Jockey's Ridge and the ocean.
Kill Devils Frozen Custard & Beach Fries
Kill Devil Hills Frozen Custard & Beach fries is a drive-in, but there are picnic tables outside. On the bypass around Milepost 8. Great custard too! Kids love this place and we had quite a few of our Facebook Followers choose this place as their favorite for a burger. They also feature hand-cut fries.
Red Drum Grille & Taphouse
Red Drum is also in Kill Devil Hills (of course) and they have a variety of burgers to choose from including a blue cheese burger, mushroom and bacon and swiss burger and the list goes on. Very good beer selection too.
Five Guys Burgers & Fries in Kill Devil Hills
Five Guys Burgers & Fries is a gourmet burger chain, but popular among locals. Fresh, good quality, lots of fries! Very simple menu...hamburgers, hot dogs, fries. Five Guys is located near Milepost 9 in KDH, off the bypass.
Uncle Ikes Sandbar & Grill in Corolla
In Corolla, the nod went to First Light and to Uncle Ikes. Mariann says her husband is a "burger expert" and claims the burger at Uncle Ikes was the best he ever tasted. During the summer Ikes is open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. If you are in a big house with lots of people and you know you will never find a restaurant that can seat all of you ...here is an option. Uncle Ikes Sandbar and Grill is located in the Corolla Light Town Center across from the Currituck Lighthouse.
