Outer Banks Beach Access Smartphone App Now Available
An Outer Banks local sent me an email the other day telling me about a new app that gives information about the public beach accesses on the Outer Banks. It is only .99 cents and I have used it every day when I go out first thing in the morning to take photos and videos before coming in to work. Check out the website at www.obxbeachapp.com and you can get a feel of what the app does and how it works. Even though I have lived here a long time I can't remember which beach access has steps, a ramp, near restaurants, etc so this has been pretty helpful to me. Outer Banks, NC - June 29, 2013
Take Me to the Beach, a new smart device application providing users with information about public beach accesses on the Outer Banks of North Carolina, is now available for download on both Apple and Android devices.
Take Me to the Beach provides directions, photos, and a list of amenities for each public beach access on the Outer Banks of North Carolina. Beach access amenities include; restrooms; parking, handicap parking, lifeguards, showers, private access, wooden walkway and food nearby. Accesses can be viewed by proximity to location or on a navigable map. There are 124 public beach accesses along the Outer Banks from the northern beaches of Corolla to the southern shores of Hatteras Island.
Take Me to the Beach was developed and designed by Inductive Ideas LTD. "When I moved to the area over 3 years ago, I had a hard time navigating and telling the local beach accesses apart. This application was created as a direct result of my experiences as a newcomer to the area. I wanted to make it as simple and easy to find your perfect beach," said co-creator of the application and Southern Shores resident, Sara Brubaker.
The application was created for public beach accesses. However, it does provide information about select popular private accesses located in Southern Shores and Duck. "To benefit the user experience, we choose to highlight a few of the popular private beach accesses with lifeguards and other desirable amenities," remarked Brubaker.
