Outer Banks Golf

Seeing as April 10 is Golfer’s Day we decided to talk about some of our local courses. The 2013 Golf Panel Top 100 Courses chose Kilmarlic Golf Club, The Currituck Club and Nags Head Golf Links as three of their picks for finest courses in one of the United States best golf states. Ben Bridgers is the general manager of Nags Head Golf Links and OBX Golf Association and said he feel it is a great honor for Nags Head to be in the top 100 especially after Hurricane Irene when the course sustained some damage due to flooding. There are many vacation rental homes within the Village at Nags Head, where the course is located, featuring outstanding views of the golf course and the Roanoke Sound. There is a bar and restaurant on site and here is where you can catch some spectacular sunsets. The food is very good and you will always get a friendly welcome. Great views too.

The Currituck Club course was designed by world renowned architect Rees Jones and is on the northern Outer Banks (Corolla). This is a beautiful course over coastal terrain and offering sound side views of the barrier island. This is a demanding course and just like in Nags Head, there are many vacation rental homes located throughout. The Currituck Club also offers an on site restaurant and bar and the food is good and the service is excellent. I don’t play golf but I used to work up in our Corolla office and had many a lunch there.

Kilmarlic is located about five minutes north of the Wright Brothers Bridge and is the newest o the three courses. Designed by Tom Steele, this course runs along the marshland of the Albemarle Sound and was the host course for the 2004 and the 2009 North Carolina Opens.

Our area is fast becoming known as a golf destination point for many avid players and we have not even covered all the courses in this post. To read more about those please click here www.villagerealtyobx.com/OuterBanks/OuterBanksGolf.
