NAGS HEAD, N.C. - Village Realty Management and Services of Nags Head and Corolla and First Colony Inn of Nags Head recently donated $8,550 to the Outer Banks Woman's Club's Angel Tree Program.
The employees of Village Realty have raised money for the Angel Tree program yearly since 2009. Each department raises funds with a raffle, auction or other means, and Village Realty matches the total sum.
This year the employees raised more than $6,000, which was matched by the company for a total of $12,750. Of this amount, Village Realty donated $4,200 to individuals in need and $8,550 to the Angel Tree program. The 2011 donation to the Angel Tree was a record for the company, nearly double what they donated last year.
"We were stunned that we made that much money," says Jeannie Maynard, director of Web Services and Marketing at Village Realty.
The Outer Banks Woman's Club sponsors the Angel Tree Program in partnership with Dare County Social Services to provide toys and clothing to needy children in Dare County during the holiday season.
"Village Realty has done this for quite some time and it means a great deal to the community," says Julia Haywood of the Outer Banks Woman's Club. "Donations like this are what give us the funds we need to help these kids."
This year the Angel Tree Program served 320 children in 175 families.
