SN21: Turtles Roost

Stayed 1st week in October 2025. Since this is the 1st review in over a year I will leave some updates. Great location on the beach with terrific view from top deck. Enjoyed the hot tub, too cold to use non heated pool. There is a gas grill but bring device to light it as ignition on grill does not work. Lots of bedrooms and beds, two sink in the middle a bit but useable. Arcade games a big plus. Juke box is a bit loud with no volume control and will only play single song not entire disc. On/off switch is on the wall as well as switch for bowling arcade game. Pool table and ping pong table in good shape but bring you own paddles if you are serious player. All appliances worked. Driveway hard to find at night, solar light would be helpful. Had a really good week, chased away one day early because of nor'easter storm.

I’ll have maintenance inspect the grill ignition and the jukebox (volume control and disc playback), label the arcade switches, and review pool heating timing for shoulder-season stays. Would have liked a gas grill outside. The one there was very small and not gas. The rest of the house was great. The kids especially loved the video games!

Nice house for the 12 of us, with bedroom configuration working nicely for the grandparents and young families with little kiddos. Appreciate the hard surface floors from a cleanliness perspective. Pool area and hot tub area clean. Beach access and location in South Nags Head were perfect. Enjoyed the new "Trex Wood" Adirondack chairs poolside and on the third floor deck; need to get a few more chairs for the other decks and a few loungers for the pool area. Great stay! Thanks.

Overall, we enjoyed our week at Turtles Roost. Village Realty responded quickly to our concerns on the first day and had everything taken care of. The layout of the house is perfect for a large family group. We loved the pool and our easy walk to the beach. A rug or two would be beneficial since all of the flooring has been changed over to hard surface flooring. The stairs and decking need some repairs, but overall a nice beach house.

This is our fourth stay in this home (2011, 2015, 2017 & 2019), very comfortable for a family of 17. The 2 bunkrooms accommodated the grandkids and each adult had their own room. Lots of space on the main level for family games and meals. Great location to stores and entertainment. Pool and hot tub were nice and clean and access to the beach very easy.

Overall we love the house. Great for 16 people. Location could not be better! Brokenn dishwasher fixed in one day! There are new couches that are not comfortable. We wish there were more plates and there are only 4 spoons at this point and we had to buy disposable. Doors to second deck and 2 upstairs fans seem to be broken. We hope these minor issues will be addressed because we love so much about the house and hope to return.

This house has space to play and relax, so even if the weather is not great, the game room and view will be great. Very clean pool and hot tub. All enjoyed it!

Our family of seven had an absolute blast at Turtle`s Roost! The pool was freezing (first week it was open), but we were in it every day for hours, the beach was a few steps away over a gorgeous little dune, and the house is laid out to accommodate everyone from the age of four to seventy seven! The lot was close to everything we love and a block away from a perfect fishing pier. The only complaint was the comfort of the mattresses. Everyone was walking crooked by the end of the week!

We had a wonderful stay at Turtles Roost! For a rental, the beds were very comfortable. The bathrooms were clean and had a cute beach theme. The house had a great lay-out with lots of fun things for the kids to do. They loved the arcade games, pool table and ping pong table. Everything needed to use these things were provided. The pool and hot tub were very clean and cleaned again during our stay. We also liked using the outdoor shower to rinse off between the beach and pool. I liked that there was outside grass space to set up corn hole too. The house had a few small issues arise that Village Reality quickly addressed. There were lots of kitchen utensils, pots, pans etc provided to make meals and lots of seating for everyone to eat together. We were given starter packs of consumables like dish detergent, toilet paper, soap etc. They also had brooms and vacuums available to quickly clean floors and get sand picked up. This house is located near a pier that has a great restaurant (Fish Heads) that was reasonably priced and delicious. We loved eating on the pier overlooking the ocean and then walking back to the rental. If you like fishing, you can also buy a day fishing pass for the pier. The one thing that could be improved is adding a gas grill. There is an older charcoal grill currently, but it is small and not as easy to cook on. Overall, I would highly recommend this property!

This was our 2nd year in a row same house same week. Always a great time and a great place to stay.
