We really enjoyed staying at the Pickled Mermaid. There were definitely some outdated things such as the bathrooms downstairs, the kitchen cabinets and some of the furniture. The furniture could use better cleaning as when we lifted up the cushions, there were piles of dog hair under them. The house could definitely use some new kitchen utensils, pits, pans, and blenders. Other than that, if we had a question or issue, Village Realty was on top of it and sent someone over right away. I loved the layout of the house and able to see the ocean from the windows or the wrap around deck. I could definitely see us staying here again.- Reviewed On: 4/1/2026

"We had an absolutely perfect stay at VRL's place in Rodanthe! 🫡The location is exactly what you want for an Outer Banks getaway—peaceful, beautiful, and just steps away from the beach. The house was spotless, beautifully decorated, and had all the amenities we needed for a comfortable stay. We especially loved drinking our morning coffee on the deck while listening to the waves /surfing all to myself 💯/watching the sunset over the Sound.
