Christmas on the North End
On the first three days in December, Island Farm will host “Christmas on the North End,” an event focused on holiday traditions in the early days of the Outer Banks.
Costumed interpreters will share how Roanoke Island families celebrated Christmas in the mid-1800s. The homeplace will be decorated inside and out, while Farm interpreters will demonstrate traditional mid-19th century traditions of food, celebration, and a holiday craft. Kettle corn, candle making, Christmas ornament crafting, and grapevine wreath making will be the highlights and the opportunity to visit and have pictures made with St. Nicholas inside the historic homeplace!
The event occurs between 3 and 7 p.m. on December 1, 2, and 3. The event is $10 for those aged 4 and older; admission for children 0-3 is free. Island Farm is located at 1140 N US Highway 64, just north of Manteo on Roanoke Island. Island Farm is a living history site that interprets pre-Civil War life on the Outer Banks.
Island Farm is owned and operated by Outer Banks Conservationists, a 501(c)3 non-profit organization founded in 1980 to protect natural, cultural, and historic resources along North Carolina’s Outer Banks through education and conservation of a sense of place.
