Ho Ho HOT...

We are having a very nice, warm December with temps in the 60's and 70's. Yes, the AC has been turned on a couple of times and yep, we are still wearing shorts, flip flops and t-shirts. Well, actually many OBXers wear that all year long, no matter what. While yes, it would be nice to see some snow, these temperatures have been so nice that no one is complaining about not being able to get in the holiday spirit. Lots of beach-combing and dog walking on the beach taking place. And fishing, always fishing.

Our occupancy rate is pretty good this week, lots of families and couples checked in over the weekend to spend the holidays here. And of course, quite a few homeowners come down this time of year too.

Things are a little quiet as far as the phones go but once January 2nd gets here, it will be a little crazy...both with bookings via phone and online. I imagine that people getting together over the holidays are finalizing their 2016 plans. Makes sense.

I have been adding 2016 events to our Facebook page and came across a new event, the Inaugural Outer Banks Craft Beer Week. May 30 to June 5 at the Soundside Event Site in Nags Head. Included in the activities: A Beer Art Show (hmmm??) and a Brewathlon, a series of tap takeovers and craft beer dinners and a Craft Beer Retreat. Whatever that is. Tickets are on sale now.

Speaking of spirits, did you know we have a craft distillering right here on the Outer Banks?  Outer Banks Distilling is the first "legal" distillery here and is located in downtown Manteo. Kill Devil Rum is available for tasting, as are tours. You can buy Kill Devil Rum by the bottle at our local ABC stores. Website  I have not tried it yet, but it is very popular with the locals.

I will keep this short because I am busy and so are you and it is almost Christmas.

Until Next Time,

Your Outer Banks Blogger
