Queen of the Beach

Last week, a production company out of Miami oversaw a location photo shoot at the Buchanan Cottage (www.BuchananCottage.com) in Nags Head with a full crew and models from Self Magazine, which was doing an active lifestyle piece.

As the representative for the Buchanan Cottage, Village Realty was contacted by the production company, Select Services Production, and the Outer Banks Visitors Bureau requesting permission to shoot in and around the iconic Nags Head oceanfront.

We worked to make the arrangements happen for them on their schedule because we want people to remember Village Realty when they think Outer Banks!

The weather was superb, the shoot went well, and we're told by the production company we were so accommodating that they will be in touch with us again when they steer more location photo shoots to the Outer Banks.

The Buchanan Cottage was built on three oceanfront lots and is constructed of cypress, juniper and heart pine. This classic L-shaped beach house is complemented with large traditional wrap-around porches, complete with porch swings, benches and a hammock for enjoying the ocean breezes.

When President Franklin D. Roosevelt visited the Outer Banks in 1937 to see the Lost Colony, it was the Buchanan Cottage where he dined. This authentic Old Nags Head home was built in 1936 for John Adams Buchanan and his wife Mattie Toms Buchanan of Durham, North Carolina.
