Company History

Village Realty and Management Services, Inc. was incorporated in North Carolina in July of 1993. The company is an "S" corporation, and the President is Robert Oakes, Jr. Village Realty acquired the Nags Head assets of Capitol Dominion Corporation on August 1, 1993, and continued the business of real estate management and sales.

Village Realty and Management Services, Inc. is licensed to practice real estate business in the state of North Carolina.

Capitol Dominion, led by Dr. Craven Williams, began its operations in Nags Head in October of 1986. Robert Oakes was hired by Capitol Dominion to manage The Villas condominium association and assist with the initial association chores at The Village at Nags Head. Capitol Dominion expanded operations to include rental management and produced their first brochure, a four page black and white piece, in 1987.

Capitol Dominion, trading as Village Realty, worked closely with the developer of The Village at Nags Head, Ammons Dare Corporation, to develop a market for rental properties in The Village at Nags Head. The superior collection of amenities, including an eighteen hole golf course and an oceanfront beach and tennis club, aggressive marketing and a record of outstanding customer service have created lasting value for the owners of Village rental properties.

Village Realty continues to expand. When Ammons Dare chose to withdraw from the active sale of real estate, the sales agents employed by Ammons Dare shifted to Village Realty. Since the sales transition in September of 1995, Village Realty has grown to include over 10 sales agents, including 4 agents serving the Corolla area. The company added the management of commercial condominiums to its range of services in June of 1996. In 1998, we moved into a new Nags Head office, and in January of 2001, we moved into a new office at south entrance to The Currituck Club, a new golf course designed by Rees Jones.

The growth in our rental management program has always been fueled by the additional services we provide, and property owners have come to us one by one, drawn by word of mouth and our visible presence in Nags Head and Corolla. We are proud of the number of repeat guests that return to our area and company year after year, and we take pleasure in serving our owners and our guests.

Key Personnel

Robert Oakes, Jr. graduated from the University of Virginia with a B.A. in English in 1984, and quickly moved to Nags Head. Bob entered the real estate property management field in 1986, and received a broker's license in 1988. He has completed the 300, 400 and 500 courses at the Institute of Real Estate Management, and has earned Certified Property Manager designation. Married with two children, Oakes is an Eagle Scout and former Scoutmaster, and currently serves as vice-president of the Outer Banks Community Foundation. Bob also serves as the Mayor of Nags Head.

Dorie Fuller graduated from Roanoke College with a degree in Business Administration in 1981. Ms. Fuller moved to Nags Head in 1983 after marrying Nags Head Town Manager Webb Fuller. After a brief experience in the mortgage business, Ms. Fuller worked with Beach Realty in general real estate sales for seven years. In 1992, she accepted a position in property management with Village Realty. She was promoted to general manager of the firm in 1995. Ms. Fuller has completed the 300, 400 and 500 courses at the Institute of Real Estate Management, and is currently reviewing information for her management plan, the final requirement to earn the Certified Property Manager designation.
