Dear Mother Hemingway,

Ernest and I have decided to spend the summers on the Outer Banks of North Carolina. He feels that he will be able to finish his novel there amongst the ocean breezes and the sounds of the sea.

I imagine you are worried that we cannot afford it but we have found the cutest little beach cottage in Kill Devil Hills and it is in our price range. The house is called 'Avalon Limin'' and we found out that limin' is an island term meaning relaxing under a lime tree! You know how Ernest loves his margaritas so this cottage seemed just perfect for us.

There are three bedrooms so we are hoping you will come and stay with us for a few days and spend some time with your grandson. He misses you terribly but is excited about his summer at the beach.

We also have free long distance service so we will be able to call you often. Ernest was delighted to learn that there is free Internet service here plus a printer, copier and a scanner so he can send new chapters to his publishers as soon as he finishes them.

Very close by is this wonderful restaurant named 'Awful Arthur's' and they have wonderful seafood. Nicanor has already asked me if he can buy a t-shirt and thinks the name of the place is very funny. It is only two blocks to the restaurant and to the Avalon Pier where we can eat breakfast or lunch and walk down the pier or even try some fishing. Just a mile away is another good place to eat called Goombay's...and all the restaurants are very child friendly.

Please do not worry about Nicanor...I know he is a very active four year old but the house is on a quiet street and there is also a fenced in back yard where he can play. We are so happy to be able to bring Barkley too...you know how our furry family member hates to be left behind!

And there is even an old fashioned claw foot tub so I am bringing my books and my bubble bath!

I was told that Avalon Limin was recently remodeled, including the kitchen, and that it has all new mattresses and furniture. The reservation agent said it is absolutely adorable. And I was very pleased to find out that the beds will be made before we check in and that bath towels are provided too!

Candy at Village Realty was very helpful and told me where the grocery stores were located and about some shops she felt I would like. I told her I loved sea glass jewelry and she suggested I visit Cloud Nine Creative Emporium in Nags Head so I am hoping we can go there together when you visit.

We know it's important to stay connected. This Outer Banks vacation home does offer wireless (or wired) internet service (computer not included) at no additional charge. Please keep in mind the Outer Banks often experiences downtime with this service and it can take multiple days to resolve issues when they occur. Village Realty is happy to provide internet service as a back up when this occurs and our services are available at every check in location.

Please note garage is not available for guest use.

We had a wonderful stay at Avalon Limin. We had to leave unexpectedly because of Hurricane Irene but we enjoyed every minute of the time that we were there. OBX is our favorite vacation spot. This it the second time we've used Village Realty and will continue to do so in the future! Avalon Limin was a beautiful home and we felt right at home!!!
