Outer Banks Hurricane InformationIn the event of an approaching storm we will update this page with the current information and status, so please check back frequently. The most up to date information regarding any storm will be available on the links/web sites we have included below. While many owners and hundreds of guests are calling trying to find out if and when they can come or if they should leave, we'll do our best to post detailed information on our website so you wont have to call. If a storm is headed our way, the staff may be out in the field checking on and securing homes. We could be busy calling all the guests who are here and phone lines will be tied up. We also will be receiving information from local and county officials. We ask that you please check this website instead of calling us as we will post updates frequently. Many of our employees live off the island and may have had to leave early to secure their own homes and many will also evacuate the island if the order is mandatory. Ferry service ceases with the onset of gale force winds, please take this into consideration. Once an officially declared evacuation is issued then the Swan Quarter and Cedar Island ferries no longer accept or honor any reservations; it is all first come first served. If you are traveling south and/or west please do not wait thinking that you will be able to catch the ferry at the last minute. If a mandatory evacuation is ordered please take all your belongings with you; including food. The order to leave will be given in plenty of time by county officials. Depending on the severity and length of the storm and any storm damage, you may not be allowed back. The earlier you leave the better as traffic increases the closer the storm gets. If you are not planning on going all the way home and need hotel accommodations we advise that you call and make reservations ASAP; please see links at the bottom of this page. Evacuation routes are well marked with blue evacuation route signs. There are no shelters in Dare County, Currituck County or Hyde County. Inland shelter locations will be broadcast on local radio and TV stations (listed below) as the storm approaches. If you are coming from or headed to the North, you will need to go thru Currituck County and Dare County, so we have included links to the web sites for both counties. These web sites are managed and updated by the counties or federal government on a regular basis. Most of the information we receive comes directly from the Dare County, Currituck County and Hyde County Emergency Management agencies. Local Radio Stations:
