Taste of the Beach

Did you know there are over 160 locally owned restaurants on the Outer Banks? How can you sample so much great food in one vacation? By attending Taste of the Beach this March of course!

For over twenty years, our local chefs have come together every March to promote the wide range of tastes found all up and down our beach. Taste of the Beach is sponsored by The Outer Banks Restaurant Association, a non-profit group of restaurant owners and managers, as well as people or businesses serving the restaurant industry in the Outer Banks of North Carolina.

This year, the fun starts Thursday March 11 with a special cooking demonstration from Biggest Loser finalists Ed Brantley & Heba Salama, followed by the event kickoff at the Outer Banks Brewing Station. Local chefs will be on hand to provide you with samples of tastes to come! Ed and Salama will be staying at the Croatan Surf Club while they are on the Outer Banks. If you see them, be sure to ask how they like the indoor pool!

Events continue all weekend, ranging from cooking classes to free entertainment to brewery tours to exclusive dinners at some of the Outer Banks' finest restaurants. Back by popular demand is the Tapas Crawl in Duck. The Sanderling also offers special spa treatments and yoga classes throughout the weekend.

Finally, the Taste of the Beach Expo is held Sunday night at Pamlico Jack's. Now is your chance to vote for the prestigious People's Choice TOBY! Ed and Salama will be on hand as celebrity guest judges. Check out the full schedule of events here.

The annual Taste of the Beach event, promoted as a "weekend of food, drink and fun on the Outer Banks," is presented by the Dare County Restaurant Association. At this culinary weekend event, a variety of Outer Banks restaurants will host exclusive dinners with special menu offerings, many with wine pairings or featuring guest chefs.

Attendees to this weekend event won't be disappointed as they experience this "taste" of local cuisine from Outer Banks restaurants. A variety of presentations ranging from beer and wine, appetizers, main courses, desserts, breakfasts, and more will be presented during this event, as well as a number of presentations and classes about cooking and entertaining.

Whether you attend brew school at a local brewery, learn about different types of coffee from a local coffee shop, have some traditional Outer Banks seafood at a locals' favorite restaurant, or simply relax for a weekend brunch with friends, the Taste of the Beach event is worth attending! The event culminates at the Taste of the Beach Expo, which is an evening showcase of the cuisine offered by the event's participants.
