This popular art show will run from January 28 through February 24, 2012 at Glen Eure's Ghost Fleet Galler in Nags Head. You will find works from about 100 local artists here. Local artists are encouraged to submit their work. Cash prizes will be awarded by the judges and there will also be a people's choice award. All the artword must be dropped off on January 24 or 25 at the gallery. The gallery is located at 210 East Driftwood Street. The fee is $20 per artist or $35 for nonmembers

The Dare County Arts Council and the The Sound radio station (99.1 fm) have joined together to present Outer Banks Sounds. They looked for for local musicians and/or bands who can play original, unlicensed music and can submit a CD for consideration to be a part of this performance series.

Recently one of our sales agents was involved in the sale of a very historic home in Nags Head. He felt the history of this home was so interesting that we should blog about it...so here we go. The 'Fearing' home was built in 1935 and is located on the oceanfront. Back in the day it was known as The Fourth Estate Cottage and was recognized as "the last word in beach cottage exclusiveness".

Columbia, NCPocosin Arts Folk School is pleased to present a series of afternoon children's classes beginning in March. Pocosin Arts' resident artist Caitlin Cartwright will teach a Safari Collage class each Thursday from March 1st through March 29th 2012. In this exciting and informative class, students will follow step by step instructions to create wildlife adventure scenes using collage and paint. All materials will be supplied - all they need to bring is their imagination! Children from 2nd through 6th grade will meet from 3:30pm until 4:30pm, and students from 7th through 12th grade will meet from 5pm - 6pm. Tuition for all five classes is only $40.

January is probably the most quiet month on the OBX. The holidays are over, and any business that stayed open to capture those visitors has closed...including some restaurants and hotels.
