Monday, July 20, 2009: (Waterside Theatre's Gift Shop Kiosk) Meet the Artist. Greet local North Carolina folk artists and craftsman as they showcase their talents before The Lost Colony's Monday performance.

Thursday, August 06, 2009: (Waterside Theatre at The Lost Colony) Tea with the Queen. Have an audience with Queen Elizabeth I and her royal court. The Queen's tea also includes a backstage tour of Waterside Theatre and a complimentary souvenir program. Advance reservations required. Tickets are $22 for Adults, $11 for Youth (7-18 years).

Additional dates of this event are June 25, July 2, 9, 16, 23 and 30, and August and 13.

Saturday, July 11, 2009: (Wright Brothers National Memorial (Milepost 8)) 30th Annual Wright Kite Festival. This festival surrounds a spectacular kite show put on by Larger than Life Kites. Come see a 100ft. octopus, 50ft scuba diver and many other kites dance in the air during this jaw dropping event. Stunt kites demonstrations, games, kids kite making, and contests are held throughout both days. Kids can make and fly their kites where flight began. Events begin mid morning and continue through the afternoon.

Wednesday, August 05, 2009: (North Lawn of Currituck Heritage Park) Whalehead Club Wednesday Wine Festivals. Come and celebrate the interesting world of wines! All wine connoisseurs and novices are welcome! Enjoy a Wednesday afternoon of wine tasting and entertainment under the tents on the north lawn of Currituck Heritage Park. With your $20 admission adults can sample wines from North Carolina and the world; keep your souvenir glass; take a complimentary tour of the Whalehead Club; listen to popular local musical artists perform on the stage; sample food from local vendors. Children and leashed pets are welcome. Admission to taste the wines is $20 - parking is free.

August dates for the Festival are August 5, 12, 19, 26. This event will also be held July 1, 8, 15, 22, 29 and September 2, 9, 16, 23, 30.

Friday, August 07, 2009: (Downtown Manteo Waterfront) First Friday on Roanoke Island. First Friday is a fun-filled, family oriented street festival held the first friday of each month.

Other 2009 First Friday dates are: April 3, May 1, June 5, July 3 and September 4.

Thursday, August 13, 2009: (Kitty Hawk Kites store (Milepost 12.5)) Life is good Festival. You won't want to miss this big outdoor summer bash with a homegrown backyard feel. The festival features family entertainment, dozens of spirited games and activities, and watermelons galore. This official Life is good event will donate all of festival proceeds to children's charities.

Tuesday, August 18, 2009: (Fort Raleigh National Historic Site) Virginia Dare Faire. Celebrate Virginia Dare's 422nd birthday. Attend a full day of free activities for the family that include make and take crafts; games; entertainment, activities, free cake and ice cream. Reserve your seats early for the evening performance of The Lost Colony that cameos infant actors as baby Virginia. Ticket charges apply.

Thursday, July 23, 2009: (Hatteras Landing Shopping Center) Kitty Hawk Kites Hatteras Kid Kite Day. Come fly with us at Hatteras Landing! Join in the stunt kite and power kite demonstrations. There will be exhibitions, free lessons, and games for kids from midmorning to mid-afternoon. There will also be face painting and tattoos!

Monday, July 27, 2009: (The Lost Colony) The Lost Colony's Theatre Arts Camp, Session I. Designed to teach students voice, dance, and acting skills, give them performance experience, ignite their creative spirit, build a sense of accomplishment and community, and encourage them to have fun. $150 per week, plus $10 registration fee (non refundable). Includes camp T-shirt, tickets to Charlotte's Web, Waterside Art Wednesday, Tea with the Queen/Simon's Pirate Adventure, and The Lost Colony. Camp is for ages 6-15.

Saturday, December 12, 2009: (The Lawn at Currituck Heritage Park (1100 Club Road/NC Highway 12)) 3rd Annual Tree Lighting Celebration. See the giant cedar tree in Currituck Heritage Park and the Currituck Beach Lighthouse simultaneously illuminated. Gather on the north lawn to enjoy free hot chocolate and sing carols. Following the lighting ceremony, the Whalehead Club will offer complimentary docent-led holiday tours to show off the decorations inspired by the 1920's etchings of Edward Collings Knight, Jr.

Saturday, August 08, 2009: (On the Beach behind the Ramada Inn) 10th Annual Kitty Hawk Kites Ocean Games. This is a whole day of fun in the sun with a 5 mile kayak race, sandcastle building contests and kite flying demonstrations. Novice and advanced kayakers welcome. Come out and try all the newest kayaks Kitty Hawk Kites has to offer.

Sunday, August 09, 2009: (Old Station Public Bath House) 8th Annual OBX Sandbar 5K. The Outer Banks' only 5K Beach Run/Walk is set on the wide flat sands in front of the historic 'Old Station' public bath house in Kitty Hawk, North Carolina. This charity event benefits the Outer Banks Relief Foundation which raises funds to help people on the Outer Banks with debilitating diseases and families in crisis.

Friday, September 11, 2009: (Manteo Waterfront) Kitty Hawk Kites Kayak Jamboree and Big Blow-Out Sale. Try it before you buy it! Saturday, October 17, 2009: (Wright Brothers National Memorial (Milepost 8)) 24th Annual Outer Banks Stunt Kite Competition. This competitive fly is on the Eastern League Circuit for sport kite flying and is also sanctioned by the American Kiting Association. Throughout the weekend, non-competitors can enjoy workshops, demonstrations and kite making for kids. The highlights of this event include graceful kite ballet competitions set to music and team flying that blends both kite control and speed.

Tuesday, July 07, 2009: (Duck Town Stage) Duck's Summer Music Series. This popular evening concert series returns for its 3rd season. Held on Tuesday and Thursday nights at 6:00 p.m. Bring a blanket or lawn chair, a picnic dinner, and enjoy an early evening concert on the green in Duck. The concerts are free.

Saturday, July 11, 2009: (Waterside Theatre) Jesus Christ Superstar Performance and Opening Night Party. The Lost Colony presents the ground breaking theatrical masterpiece Jesus Christ Superstar by Tim Rice and Andrew Lloyd Webber. This rock musical, a dramatized version of the last seven days in the life of Jesus of Nazareth, is timeless and for the times. Advance tickets: $15 for Preferred Seating, $10 for House Seats. Performance day tickets: $20 for Preferred Seating, $15 for House Seats.

Celebrate the opening night of Jesus Christ Superstar! The post-performance party features hors d'oeuvres, beverages, and an opportunity to meet the talented cast and crew. Tickets are $12 per person for the post-performance party.
